Dynamic Process Analysis

Dynamic business processes support strategic and less structured managerial decisions and activities. We will focus on marketing.

Social Media System

One of the social media information systems that ShopRite utilizes to support their marketing is Instagram. ShopRite’s Instagram has over 76,000 followers, which can be seen as 76,000 people who can be directly marketed to knowing they already shop at ShopRite. Instagram’s platform and algorithm also allow ads and personalized ads that are marked towards those who may already be seen as potential customers

Social Media Plan

Shoprite has developed a strong social media plan to enhance its SMIS. This plan focuses on engaging with a broad customer base and targeting customers looking for quality groceries and shopping experiences. metrics to assess the effectiveness of its social media. Engagement metrics like likes, shares, comments, and overall interaction rates help measure customer engagement. Reach and impressions are tracked to calculate the number of individual users who view their content and the total number of times it is displayed. Conversion rates track the percentage of social media interactions that lead to expected actions, such as website visits or purchases. To efficiently adapt content and establish a stronger connection with their target market, audience demographics such as age, gender, and location are also examined.

Their target audience is lower- and middle-class families who want quality goods at a low price. The company also engages with a younger crowd, including millennials and Gen Z, to support and connect with its audience. It shares promotional content, including discounts, special offers, and loyalty programs, to help customers save on purchases (see Figure 1). Additionally, ShopRite offers instructional content such as recipes, cooking tips, and nutritional information to help customers make informed food decisions. (see Figure 2,3) The company recognizes local events, collaborations with influencers (see Figure 2,3), and customer stories to strengthen its connection with the community, building a sense of involvement and belonging among its followers. Although there are no specific details on Shoprite's use of Google Analytics, it is common for big companies like Shoprite to use these tools to ensure they are effectively using their SMIS.

SMIS Security Concerns

ShopRite addresses SMIS security concerns by having financial information for customers, such as their credit/debit card. The company will look at your account information (from the ShopRite card), such as the last name, email address, phone number, password, purchase history, digital coupon usage, saved recipes, saved items, etc. When customers sign up for a Price Plus card, they provide their personal information. Once the company receives the information, they will assign a unique price plus card number, which allows them to have access to discounts on products.

The social media policy for employees is to not have phones out while at work. Employees who post inappropriate photos on social media may result in a warning or suspension of the company. “If Wakefern believes you are posting with the intent to cause disruption or harm, your actions may result in a warning, a suspension, or a permanent ban from participation in the Page.” The company is not liable for or responsible for the termination of employees. ShopRite uses automatic filtering, moderation guidelines, and customer support to handle offensive content and negative feedback. Unsuitable content is identified and eliminated, and genuine negative reviews are handled professionally to fix the problem.
