ShopRite was founded by eight moms and pop grocers in the 1940s in Newark, New Jersey. Eventually, these people came together to become the founding members of the Wakefern Food Corp. cooperative. ShopRite aims to compete with larger supermarket chains by buying products collectively and passing the savings on to consumers. The company offers affordable prices to customers who cannot shop elsewhere.  It has grown into the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States and the largest employer in New Jersey. They have grown to have over 313 locations across the northeastern area. These locations include New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland and Delaware. In recent years, ShopRite has expanded its offerings to include online shopping and delivery services, adapting to changing consumer preferences and the rise of e-commerce. This evolution reflects the supermarket's commitment to meeting the needs of its customers while maintaining its core values ​​of quality, service, and community engagement. Shop ShopRite's ground is characterized by its cooperative model, community focus, and dedication to providing a comprehensive shopping experience.

Purpose:

Our project aims to get an in-depth understanding of ShopRite's management information system and how it operates. We will focus on the two processes, sales and marketing. We will look at the producers that ShopRite has done while implementing information systems through their mobile app and other technologies. Some examples of these include the POS system, the Kronos App for managing employees' schedules, and ShopRite from Home. ShopRite offers products at a low cost while giving excellent customer service. We also plan to evaluate the efficiency of ShopRite's data processing and how it affects the company's performance. This project will help to assess the efficiency of ShopRite's data processing and how it affects decision-making. 


Thesis:
This project aims to improve ShopRite's Management Information Systems (MIS) by thoroughly analyzing the company's strategy, technological systems, and operational processes. This project will find ineffective systems or operations by evaluating Shoprite's current MIS used across store operations and gathering insights from managers. In addition, we will recommend solutions to improve business procedures and customer satisfaction and increase operational efficiency while exploring how technological advancement can make everything run smoother. We will also gauge how ShopRite's management information system supports the company.

Manager Interview

 We will ask the manager questions to better understand how the information system is operated at ShopRite. We want to know the types of information systems that are commonly used and how they align with the company's overall business objectives.
